Nicolas Jackson’s future at Chelsea is increasingly uncertain, with the Senegal international attracting interest from Aston Villa, Tottenham and Atlético Madrid as Chelsea look to reduce their oversized squad before the transfer window closes. The 25-year-old has returned to Stamford Bridge following his loan spell at Bayern Munich, but new manager Xabi Alonso appears willing to allow him to leave if the right offer arrives.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and quickly established himself as an important part of the attack. He has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the London club, but his position has become less secure following Chelsea’s continued investment in attacking players. João Pedro, Liam Delap, Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha are among the forwards competing for places in Alonso’s squad.
The situation became more complicated after Jackson’s season-long loan at Bayern Munich ended without the German club activating the option to make the transfer permanent. He returned to Chelsea hoping to compete for his place, but reports indicate that the club is now prepared to consider a permanent sale rather than another loan. Chelsea are reportedly seeking around £65 million for the striker.
Aston Villa are among the clubs showing the strongest interest. Villa manager Unai Emery already knows Jackson from his time at Villarreal and is reportedly an admirer of the forward. The club could make a move depending on developments surrounding Ollie Watkins, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
Atlético Madrid have also emerged as potential suitors as they look to strengthen their attack, particularly with Alexander Sørloth dealing with an injury. However, reports suggest there have not yet been advanced negotiations for Jackson. Tottenham are another club monitoring the situation, although Chelsea’s valuation could prove a major obstacle.
Jackson’s own preference has also added an interesting twist to the situation. Recent reports suggest that the striker would be willing to remain at Chelsea and fight for his place under Alonso if the club sees a meaningful role for him. That leaves his future dependent not only on outside interest but also on Chelsea’s final decision over the composition of their attacking squad.
With Chelsea managing a squad of more than 40 senior players, the club is under pressure to complete several departures before the transfer window closes. Jackson has reportedly been training away from Alonso’s main first-team group alongside a number of players whose futures remain uncertain. Chelsea sources, however, have indicated that the separate training arrangement is not necessarily a punishment and also includes players working on fitness.
