Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened to sue Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), demanding ₦10 billion in damages over allegations he described as false and defamatory.
Through his lawyer Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), Gbajabiamila gave Adeyemi 72 hours to withdraw the allegations, issue a public apology in at least five national newspapers, remove related social media posts and videos, or face legal action. The legal team described the claims as “false, malicious and entirely without factual foundation,” insisting the two men have never met or had any official relationship.
The dispute stems from Adeyemi’s claims that Gbajabiamila demanded bribes in connection with his alleged appointment to the PFIPC. He also questioned how the council appeared in the 2026 national budget despite the Presidency maintaining that no such agency exists. The Presidency has consistently dismissed the PFIPC as a non-existent body, accusing Adeyemi of forging appointment documents and falsely presenting himself as a government official. Criminal charges have already been filed against him.
The controversy has sparked wider debate over transparency and accountability within government, particularly after the purported council’s appearance in budget documents. Unless Adeyemi complies with the legal demands within the stipulated period, the dispute is expected to proceed to court, adding another chapter to the growing PFIPC controversy.
