Nigeria Extends UK Passport Intervention as London Exercise Now Runs Through October 3

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in collaboration with the Nigeria High Commission in London, is continuing a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians across the United Kingdom, with services being provided in Manchester, London, Cardiff and Aberdeen.

The exercise began on September 7, with Manchester and London opening first. Under the latest schedule published by the Nigeria High Commission, the London intervention has been extended through October 3, giving applicants additional time to access passport services.

The intervention was introduced to make passport services more accessible to Nigerians living in different parts of the UK, particularly those seeking new passports, renewals, reissues or assistance with pending applications. The NIS deployed a dedicated passport intervention team from its Abuja headquarters for the exercise.

The programme has already recorded significant demand. During its first six operational days, 2,296 applicants were successfully enrolled at the London and Manchester centres.

Manchester: 1,709 applicants
London: 587 applicants

The NIS also confirmed that passport production and dispatch had begun for applicants who had already completed the enrolment process.

Applicants attending the intervention are required to arrive with:

• Completed passport application form
• Payment receipt
• Printed appointment slip
• Old passport booklet for renewals, reissues or changes of personal data
• Prepaid Royal Mail C4 Special Delivery self-addressed envelope

Passport Fees

The Nigeria High Commission has specified the following payments:

• £20 — administrative charge
• £150 — for lost, misplaced or damaged passports

Payments can be made through the approved payment channels, and applicants are expected to complete the necessary application and payment procedures before attending their appointments.

The NIS has also stressed that its digital passport services remain available, including the Contactless Passport Application System, alongside the physical intervention exercise.

The exercise has also been monitored by NIS Comptroller-General Kemi Nanna Nandap, who visited the Manchester and London centres to assess operations and engage with members of the Nigerian community.

The Service said the intervention would continue for applicants with confirmed appointments, while urging applicants to cooperate with officials to ensure the process runs smoothly.

With the London exercise now continuing until October 3 and additional centres scheduled to operate in Cardiff and Aberdeen from September 21–26, Nigerians living across the UK have more opportunities to access passport services without necessarily travelling to London.
