The Premier League has officially released the fixtures for the 2026/27 season, setting the stage for another campaign packed with title races, fierce rivalries and fresh storylines across English football.
Defending champions Arsenal will kick off their title defence against newly promoted Coventry City when the new season begins in August. Mikel Arteta’s side enter the campaign looking to build on their recent success, while Coventry return to the Premier League hoping to establish themselves among England’s elite once again.
The fixture release has also brought renewed excitement for several of the league’s biggest clubs. Liverpool will begin a new era under manager Andoni Iraola with a challenging trip to Newcastle United, while Manchester City start life after Pep Guardiola with a home fixture against Bournemouth. Chelsea face Fulham in a London derby, and Manchester United travel to take on promoted Hull City.
As always, fans have quickly turned their attention to some of the season’s biggest clashes. The first Manchester derby is scheduled for September, while Arsenal and Tottenham will renew their North London rivalry later in the campaign. Liverpool and Everton’s Merseyside derby is also expected to be one of the standout fixtures on the calendar.
The Premier League fixture announcement is one of the most anticipated moments of the football offseason because it provides clubs, players and supporters with a roadmap for the season ahead. Managers can begin planning around difficult runs of matches, while fans can start preparing for key away trips and derby encounters.
This year’s schedule comes shortly after the conclusion of the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup. League officials have adjusted the calendar to give players additional recovery time following international commitments, reflecting growing concerns around player welfare and fixture congestion.
For promoted sides Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town, the new fixture list marks the beginning of an important challenge as they seek to avoid an immediate return to the Championship. For established contenders such as Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, the focus will be on navigating a demanding season in pursuit of domestic and European success.
While the release of fixtures always sparks predictions and excitement, history has shown that Premier League seasons rarely follow a straightforward script. Injuries, transfers, managerial decisions and surprise results often shape the title race and relegation battle in unexpected ways.
For now, however, supporters can finally begin counting down to another Premier League season, with the road to glory officially mapped out.
