Arsenal F.C. have officially been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after rivals Manchester City F.C. were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth, sealing a historic triumph for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The result left Arsenal four points clear at the top of the table with only one game remaining, making it mathematically impossible for Manchester City to retain the title. The achievement ends Arsenal’s long wait for league glory since their famous “Invincibles” campaign during the 2003/04 season under former manager Arsène Wenger.
The decisive moment came after Bournemouth frustrated City in a tense encounter that saw Eli Junior Kroupi score a brilliant opener before Erling Haaland rescued a late equaliser for the defending champions. However, the draw was not enough to keep City’s title hopes alive, triggering celebrations across North London and among Arsenal supporters worldwide.
Under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have finally transformed years of rebuilding and near misses into silverware. After finishing runners-up in three consecutive seasons, the Gunners showed resilience throughout the campaign, overcoming setbacks and maintaining consistency in one of the league’s most competitive title races in recent years.
Arsenal’s title charge appeared to stumble in April after a damaging defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, a result many believed had shifted momentum toward Pep Guardiola’s side. But Arteta’s men responded strongly, winning crucial matches to reclaim control of the race and ultimately secure the club’s 14th English league title.
The victory also marks a major milestone in Arteta’s managerial career. Since taking charge at the Emirates Stadium, the former Arsenal captain has rebuilt the squad with a blend of young talent, tactical discipline, and attacking intensity. The Premier League title becomes his second major trophy as manager after previously guiding the club to FA Cup success.
Scenes of jubilation erupted around the Emirates Stadium immediately after confirmation of City’s draw. Fans gathered in pubs, streets, and outside the stadium to celebrate the club’s long-awaited return to the summit of English football. Former players, club legends, and public figures also sent congratulatory messages as Arsenal ended one of the most talked-about trophy droughts in Premier League history.
Despite already securing the league crown, Arsenal’s remarkable season could still become even more historic. The club is preparing for a UEFA Champions League final clash against Paris Saint-Germain F.C. later this month, giving the Gunners an opportunity to complete one of the greatest campaigns in the club’s history.
