Davido Named Among 2026 Black Music Walk Of Fame Honourees

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has been named as one of the inductees for the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, marking another major international milestone for African music on the global stage.

The award-winning singer joins an influential class of honourees that includes American rapper Ludacris, gospel leader Bishop Paul S. Morton, and the late former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside district, near the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame was established in 2021 through a partnership between the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus to celebrate individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Black culture and entertainment worldwide. Past inductees include legendary figures such as Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg.

Davido’s induction places him alongside another Nigerian music icon, Fela Kuti, who was previously honoured by the Walk of Fame. The recognition is being viewed as another sign of Afrobeats’ expanding influence across the global music industry.

Born in the United States and raised in Nigeria, Davido has become one of Africa’s most commercially successful artists, amassing billions of streams worldwide and building an international fan base through hit records and collaborations with global stars. His 2023 album Timeless earned three Grammy nominations, while his latest project, 5ive, released in 2025, further strengthened his international profile.

Over the years, the singer has played a major role in pushing Afrobeats into mainstream global markets through songs such as Unavailable and Skelewu, helping introduce African sounds to wider international audiences.

Organizers of the Walk of Fame described the 2026 class as one of the most significant in the initiative’s history, highlighting the growing cultural impact of Black music across generations and continents. For many fans and industry observers, Davido’s latest recognition represents not only a personal achievement, but also another historic moment for Nigerian music and the continued rise of Afrobeats on the world stage.
