Some journeys are about distance. Others are about purpose. For Amadi Chinenyenwa Judith, her two-and-a-half-month motorcycle ride from Nigeria to France and back again was never just about crossing borders. It was about shining a light on cancer warriors whose battles are cut short, not by lack of courage, but by lack of funds.

Judith, a petite woman standing at 5’2” and weighing just 63kg, mounted a 200kg Honda CBX motorcycle and rode across West Africa, Europe, and back home, all in a bid to raise financial support for cancer patients in Nigeria who are forced to abandon chemotherapy midway due to rising costs and economic hardship.

In a chat with Julie on Cosoro Radio, she revealed Her connection to cancer is deeply personal. She has lost two loved ones to the disease, witnessed two others survive it, and lives with the reality that she herself must undergo regular cancer screenings. But the spark that ignited A Ride for a Life came during a season of prayer early in 2025.

After a 21-day fast, she felt nudged to “go and help someone.” That instruction soon led her to a woman who had stopped chemotherapy after completing just four out of twelve sessions, simply because she could no longer afford it. Judith stepped in, funding the remaining treatment from her personal savings.

By the time the chemotherapy ended, Judith’s funds were exhausted, but her resolve was not.

“I realized there were many people like her,” she says. “So instead of helping one person quietly, I decided to invest what I had into something bigger, to raise help for many.”

Riding With Fear, Faith, and Four Fingers

The road was far from kind. Just days into the journey, an accident left Judith with multiple injuries, including stitches on her fingers that forced her to ride most of the trip using only three fingers on one hand. She battled fatigue, bad roads, harsh weather, and mechanical breakdowns, often alone on long stretches of road with no one in sight.

Yet, time and again, help appeared when she needed it most. From the mountains of Guinea to the sunsets of Morocco, Judith rode through beauty and hardship alike, carrying with her the stories of cancer warriors who sent messages saying her journey gave them hope.

Judith remarks about how the journey reshaped her identity; “I went on the road as Judith, but every mile took me closer to my truth,” she reflects. “I learned how strong I am, how tender-hearted I am, and that purpose transforms fear into fuel.”

How You Can Help

A Ride for a Life exists to ensure that cancer warriors can finish what they started: their treatment, their fight, and their hope. Every donation, no matter how small, goes directly toward supporting chemotherapy costs for patients who would otherwise be forced to stop.

Donations can be made via the links available on Judith’s social media page @chibeta.beda, where both international and Nigerian donation options are provided.

As Judith puts it simply: “No amount is too small. It will go a long way toward helping someone smile.”

Sometimes, courage looks like speed and strength. Other times, it looks like a woman on a motorcycle, riding across continents so strangers can live to see tomorrow.
