Contrary to the persistent narrative of tension between Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido, DJ Tunez — Wizkid’s personal disc jockey has stepped forward to insist that the purported feud isn’t nearly as serious as fans make it out to be.
Speaking on the Moni Talks podcast, DJ Tunez described the so-called feud as “overblown” and largely a product of social media speculation rather than genuine animosity between the two music icons. According to Tunez, Wizkid holds deep respect for Davido, and there’s even enthusiasm around the idea of the duo touring together, a move he believes could significantly elevate Afrobeats on the global stage.
“For me, Wizkid has big love for Davido,” Tunez said, emphasising that collaboration not conflict is the focus. He pointed out that a joint tour featuring Wizkid’s Starboy brand and Davido’s 30BG camp could be what Afrobeats needs right now to expand its global footprint.
The idea of a rivalry between Wizkid and Davido has circulated for years, often fueled by fan debates and occasional public snubs or cryptic online exchanges. Past incidents like the widely shared footage of the two artists seemingly ignoring each other at a nightclub have stoked speculation that tension lingers between them.
Social media, in particular, has amplified every perceived slight, turning even ambiguous moments into fodder for “Team Wizkid vs. Team Davido” debates. Some earlier reports even claimed the feud had commercial origins, pointing to endorsement deals and industry competition as possible flashpoints.
DJ Tunez’s comments represent a noticeable shift from the constant spotlight on rivalry. Rather than portraying the situation as a bitter feud, Tunez frames it as media hype, suggesting that the underlying relationship between Wizkid and Davido isn’t adversarial.
Industry observers and fans alike have long speculated about the potential impact of a collaboration or joint venture between the two stars. A tour would not only be historic in Nigerian music history but could also set a powerful precedent for unity within Afrobeats.
For now, fans are watching closely to see if Tunez’s optimism translates into real events. Both Wizkid and Davido have previously hinted at the possibility of working together, and Tunez’s remarks may be the most hopeful sign yet that something big could be on the horizon.
