A night meant for music and celebration turned tragic at Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake’s concert in Nairobi, Kenya, as a stampede claimed the life of 20-year-old fan, Karen Lojore and left many others injured, marking another deadly incident linked to crowd mismanagement at a major show.

The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium during what was billed as part of Asake’s Mr Money African Tour. According to multiple reports, chaos broke out near the stadium’s entry gates as large crowds surged forward, apparently driven by long queues, inadequate crowd control, and worsening weather conditions, including heavy rain.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as fans struggled to gain entry. Security personnel and police intervened, but the situation deteriorated, leading to a deadly crowd crush. Lojore, who was reportedly standing in the queue with a valid ticket, collapsed amid the surge and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Her death has sparked deep grief and outrage across social media and in Kenyan communities.

In the aftermath, Asake took to social media to express his sorrow and condolences, describing himself as “devastated” by the tragic loss of life. He extended heartfelt sympathies to Lojore’s family and friends, stressing that music should bring joy, not sorrow, and calling for accountability from those responsible for event safety and crowd management.

The concert organizers, Tukutane Entertainment, confirmed the fatality in a brief statement and said they were cooperating with authorities as investigations unfold, but their communication has drawn criticism for lacking detail. In response, legal action has already begun, a formal complaint has been filed with the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) citing “gross negligence, poor planning and reckless endangerment” by the promoters.

Lojore’s mother also publicly demanded answers, questioning how her daughter could lose her life despite having a valid ticket for the event, intensifying calls for a full and transparent investigation.

Kenyan authorities are expected to review their findings in the coming weeks, as public pressure mounts for improved safety standards at large international shows. In the meantime, fans and industry observers alike are urging promoters, venues, and artists to prioritize attendee safety to prevent such heartbreaking outcomes in the future.
