African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has raised fresh concerns about President Bola Tinubu’s health, accusing the Federal Government of failing to fully disclose the President’s medical condition to Nigerians. Sowore made the remarks while speaking with journalists, where he alleged that the administration was downplaying the seriousness of concerns surrounding Tinubu’s health. He also drew comparisons with previous situations involving former Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Muhammadu Buhari, whose health conditions became subjects of public debate and controversy.
According to Naija News, Sowore claimed that Tinubu appeared unwell when he returned from Lagos and argued that the President should receive proper medical attention if he is experiencing health difficulties. The AAC candidate further accused the government of attempting to prevent Nigerians from understanding the alleged severity of Tinubu’s condition by keeping him involved in public engagements.
Sowore said the government should provide Nigerians with clear information about the President’s health rather than allowing speculation to continue. He also referred to an earlier episode in which, according to him, Tinubu was taken to Lagos, questioning why the President was moved and subsequently appeared at public events. “Something is eating this regime internally,” Sowore said, while alleging that Nigerians had witnessed similar secrecy surrounding the health of previous presidents.
He called on the government to disclose what, if anything, is wrong with Tinubu and ensure that the President receives appropriate medical care. Sowore also commented on Vice President Kashim Shettima, saying he did not believe the Vice President would necessarily provide a better alternative, while acknowledging that the Nigerian Constitution provides for the Vice President to assume presidential responsibilities when required.
The comments come amid renewed public interest in the President’s health. However, Sowore’s statements are allegations and opinions, and the report does not provide independent medical evidence confirming that Tinubu is suffering from any particular illness or that the government is concealing a medical condition.
