Victor Osimhen’s future has taken another intriguing turn after reports suggested that Galatasaray could be willing to listen to an offer from Barcelona, despite previously insisting that the Nigerian striker was not for sale.
For months, Galatasaray maintained a firm position on Osimhen. Manager Okan Buruk and club officials viewed the Super Eagles star as a cornerstone of their project, thanks to his remarkable impact since arriving in Istanbul. His goals, leadership, and match-winning performances quickly made him one of the most important players at the club, prompting Buruk to publicly back plans that included Osimhen at the center of the team’s future.
The Turkish champions’ reluctance to sell was also understandable given their substantial investment. After an impressive loan spell, Galatasaray secured Osimhen permanently from Napoli in a deal worth €75 million, making him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history. Since then, the Nigerian international has continued to justify his reputation as one of Europe’s most feared strikers.
Barcelona have long admired the 27-year-old and see him as a potential long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski. While the Spanish giants have faced financial challenges, their interest has never faded. Earlier reports suggested Galatasaray would only consider an offer in the region of €80 million or more.
The latest development, however, indicates a shift in the club’s stance. Rather than completely ruling out a transfer, Galatasaray are reportedly prepared to consider Barcelona’s proposal if the financial package meets their expectations. It marks a significant change from the earlier “not for sale” position that had effectively shut down transfer discussions.
The speculation comes despite Osimhen recently reaffirming his commitment to Galatasaray. The striker moved to calm transfer rumours after comments from Nigeria coach Eric Chelle sparked fresh speculation about a summer move, insisting he remains happy at the club.
Whether Barcelona can meet Galatasaray’s demands remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: a transfer that once appeared impossible is now back on the table. As the summer window unfolds, Osimhen’s future is set to remain one of football’s most closely watched stories.
