Ghanaian Afrobeats star King Promise has strongly rejected claims that he has been inactive since winning 2025’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) “Artiste of the Year,” insisting instead that his hustle has only grown stronger, and urging critics to check the numbers rather than spread rumours.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the singer pushed back against detractors who argue his creative output has slowed after his TGMA win. “There is this agenda by some detractors to water down my efforts with claims that I’ve been silent since winning Artiste of the Year,” he said. “Really? First of all, they should shush and then go and find out what King Promise is doing.”

King Promise pointed to tangible metrics to support his claim. His collaboration with Mr Eazi, “See What We’ve Done,” has reportedly clocked millions of streams and views, emphasising that his music continues to resonate across platforms.

Beyond digital numbers, his 2025 has been packed with global engagements. He completed the “True To Self” USA tour that saw him perform in major cities across the United States, and has also staged performances internationally, including in Thailand.

In addition to music, King Promise is branching into global lifestyle and entertainment spaces. In 2025 he reportedly spent time at London’s Stamford Bridge with Chelsea Football Club — blending music, fashion and global pop-culture presence in ways that expand his brand beyond traditional Afrobeats circles.

For King Promise, the challenge isn’t about awards or hype, it’s about consistency, visibility and growth. He believes critics are motivated by bias rather than facts: “I’ve been in this game long enough to know people will rubbish your hard work because you aren’t their favourite,” he said.

With a busy international agenda, successful collaborations, strong streaming numbers and growing global exposure, King Promise is making a case that his “quiet” time is nothing but noise from detractors, and he wants his efforts and name respected.
