Nigerian music star KCee has opened up about why he once turned down the opportunity to sign Flavour N’abania. The revelation, which has resurfaced long-buried tension between the two artists, sheds new light on how ego, misjudgment, and industry perception shaped their early relationship.
KCee explained that the offer came through talent manager, Soso Soberekon, who introduced a young Flavour to him for a possible record deal years ago. At the time, KCee did not see the potential he believed was necessary for a major signing and decided to pass. He emphasized that the choice had nothing to do with personal dislike but was simply a judgment call he made early in his career.
The singer further suggested that their later disagreements were rooted not in the rejected deal but in what he described as a “superiority complex” within certain parts of the industry. According to KCee, some colleagues underestimated him because he was not loud about his achievements, despite enjoying success long before Flavour broke into the Lagos scene. He noted that he was already “driving exotic cars and balling” before Flavour’s rise, yet many dismissed or downplayed his contributions to the entertainment landscape.
KCee also revealed that some of the individuals who once doubted or overlooked him have since reached out to apologize as his longevity and consistency in the industry became undeniable. This, he said, is proof that staying focused and letting results speak often outlasts early skepticism.
Despite the history and the narratives that grew around their relationship, KCee maintained that he holds no grudges against Flavour. He believes both of them have carved distinct lanes in the Nigerian music scene and can coexist without rivalry. Whether this openness could lead to future collaborations remains uncertain, but KCee’s reflections mark a rare moment of clarity about a rift that fans have speculated on for years.
