Davido, the Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouse, marked his 33rd birthday in Atlanta with a grand celebration, and used the spotlight to confirm that he is working on his sixth studio album, slated for release next year.

The birthday party, held at the sold-out State Farm Arena, was a star-studded affair attended by his wife Chioma, family members including his father Adedeji Adeleke and his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as well as close friends and fellow artists.

In a reflective moment, Davido addressed his journey in music and life, saying, “I dropped my first song when I was 17, and now I’m 33. This year is one of my best years ever; I got married to the most beautiful woman, and we had our babies.” He then delighted fans with the announcement that his sixth studio album is already in the works, promising that “more is to come in 2026.”

This new album comes on the heels of his fifth studio project, 5ive, which dropped on April 18, 2025. 5ive features an eclectic mix of Afropop, amapiano, and R&B, with collaborators such as Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Omah Lay, Odumodublvck, and more.

Beyond the music, Davido has long intertwined his birthdays with philanthropy. In previous years, he has made substantial charitable donations through his foundation, and even as he celebrated this personal milestone, his commitment to legacy and giving back remained front and center.

By choosing his birthday as the moment to reveal his next album, Davido gave fans a glimpse into what many expect to be a deeply personal and significant project, one that captures where he is in life as a mature artist, husband, and father. With the announcement made on such a high note, anticipation is already building, as listeners look forward to what creative direction he will take and which collaborators he’ll bring in.

If his past work is any guide, the upcoming album could be his most ambitious yet — blending his signature Afrobeats sound with global influences, and possibly exploring themes of growth, legacy, and personal transformation. As Davido said that evening: the journey continues, and 2026 is shaping up to be a big year.
