Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch has launched a sharp attack on Keir Starmer following his resignation as Britain’s prime minister, describing his time in office as a failure.
Badenoch said Starmer’s departure was the result of poor leadership, policy reversals and growing public dissatisfaction. She argued that his government struggled to deliver on key promises and lost the confidence of both voters and members of his own Labour Party.
The Conservative leader claimed that Starmer’s resignation reflected the deep challenges facing Labour after less than two years in power. She also accused the outgoing prime minister of failing to provide clear direction on major issues, including the economy, immigration and public services.
Starmer announced his resignation after months of mounting political pressure and declining support, triggering a leadership contest within the Labour Party. He is expected to remain in office until a successor is elected.
Badenoch’s comments mark the beginning of what is expected to be an intense political battle as Labour prepares to choose a new leader and Britain enters another period of political transition.
