Afro Nation, widely celebrated as the world’s largest Afrobeats and Amapiano festival, has announced what promises to be its most electrifying edition yet, returning to the sun-soaked shores of Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal this summer from July 3 to July 5, 2026. The three-day cultural phenomenon has unveiled a star-studded lineup blending African superstars, international icons, and genre-spanning talent, reinforcing its position at the forefront of global Black music and culture.
Leading the charge are Nigerian heavyweights Wizkid, Burna Boy and Asake, each commanding massive global followings and carrying immense influence across Afrobeats, dancehall, hip-hop and beyond. Burna Boy is set to kick off the festival on July 3, Tyla will headline on July 3 and share the stage with him, Asake takes centre stage on July 4, and Wizkid will bring the festival to a triumphant close on July 5, ensuring each evening pulses with cultural significance and unmissable energy.
The lineup extends far beyond the headliners, offering a rich mix of established and rising stars. From Nigerian chart-toppers like Olamide, Young Jonn, Darkoo and Wande Coal to Congolese legend Awilo Longomba, the festival encapsulates the diversity and dynamism of African music. International stars such as American rapper Gunna, R&B sensation Kehlani and Brazilian powerhouse Ludmilla add global heft to the bill, bridging continental sounds with international appeal.
In recognition of evolving soundscapes, Afro Nation 2026 will debut the Afrotronic Stage, dedicated to cutting-edge African electronic music genres like Afro House, Afro Tech, Gqom, and more. This fresh addition reflects the festival’s commitment to innovation and the expansive evolution of African sound. Meanwhile, fan-favourite stages like the Piano People Stage return, showcasing the best of Amapiano with performances by heavyweights such as Madumane (DJ Maphorisa), Uncle Waffles and Focalistic among others.
Afro Nation has grown far beyond a music festival; it is now a global movement that celebrates not just rhythm, but identity, fashion, lifestyle and the collective power of African creativity. Since its inception in 2019, the festival has become a cultural pilgrimage for fans from all corners of the world, uniting diverse communities under the banner of Black music and expression, with past editions drawing crowds from over 180 countries.
With its blend of heavyweight performers, genre diversity and immersive cultural experience, Afro Nation 2026 is shaping up to be more than a lineup announcement, it’s a declaration of Afrobeats’ continued global ascendancy and a celebration of the sounds defining a generation. Artists and fans alike will gather on Portugal’s Algarve coast this July to witness live the creative forces moving African music to new heights, further cementing Afro Nation’s role as the definitive summer destination for global music culture.
