Nigerian music duo Adekunle Gold and Simi have announced that they are expecting their second child, unveiling the joyful news through the visuals of Adekunle Gold’s latest music video for “My Love Is The Same.”
Rather than a traditional baby announcement, the couple chose a deeply personal and artistic approach: integrating the news into the music video for the sixth track off Adekunle Gold’s sixth studio album Fuji. The video, released on December 24, 2025, opens with an intimate exchange between Adekunle Gold and their daughter, Adejare—affectionately known as “Deja”—setting a warm, family-first tone.
As the visuals unfold, the camera eventually focuses on Simi, proudly showcasing her baby bump, confirming the couple’s expanding family.
The song “My Love Is The Same” is both tender and reflective, addressing the challenges of juggling fame, work pressures, and family life while expressing unwavering commitment and love. It’s this emotional core that makes the baby announcement feel so resonant—offering insight into the couple’s life rather than just their art.
Their first child, Adejare, was born in June 2020, and her arrival was similarly revealed through music when Simi unveiled her pregnancy in the music video for “Duduke”, a moment that became iconic among fans worldwide.
As clips from the My Love Is The Same video made the rounds online, fans and celebrities alike poured in congratulatory messages, celebrating the couple’s love story and expressing excitement for the new addition. Many highlighted how Simi and Adekunle Gold continue to use their platforms not only to entertain but also to share authentic life moments that resonate deeply with their audience.
Adekunle Gold and Simi have long been admired not just for their individual talents in Afrobeats and soul-infused pop, but also for their genuine relationship and collaboration as a couple. Their journey from marriage in 2019 to raising a family in the public eye while staying creatively innovative has endeared them to fans across Africa and the diaspora.
With the holiday season adding an extra layer of joy, this announcement caps 2025 with love, growth, and anticipation for what’s ahead in both their family life and music careers.
