Manchester Airport is pressing ahead with a multi million pound redevelopment of Terminal 3, with plans to provide passengers with more space, additional seating, upgraded security facilities and new dining options.

The project is part of a wider transformation of the airport, which has been reshaping its terminals to improve passenger experience and increase capacity. The expansion of Terminal 3 has been made possible by the closure of Terminal 1, allowing the airport to reuse some of the space previously occupied by the older terminal.

The revamped Terminal 3 is designed to offer a more spacious departure lounge, a new entrance with improved facilities and modern security equipment. The plans also include 40 per cent more seating in the departure lounge, additional shops and more places for passengers to eat and drink.

One of the major additions is Sporting Chance, a new sports bar featuring hundreds of seats, television screens showing sporting events and views across the airport’s airfield. The bar opened in March 2026 as part of the ongoing improvements to the terminal. The airport has also announced plans for Terracotta, an Italian themed restaurant, alongside further improvements to the terminal’s retail and dining areas.

The redevelopment follows the completion of major phases of Manchester Airport’s £1.3 billion transformation programme, which has more than doubled the size of Terminal 2. With Terminal 2 now handling more than 75 per cent of the airport’s passengers, Terminal 3 is being expanded to make better use of the available space and improve facilities for travellers.

The improvements are intended to make the terminal more comfortable and convenient for passengers as Manchester Airport continues to accommodate growing demand for air travel.
