Nigerian singer Tems has earned another global spotlight after her collaboration “Raindance” with British rapper Dave was selected for Spotify’s 2026 Songs of Summer list, a curated prediction of tracks expected to dominate the season, alongside a new feature allowing fans to vote for their favourite summer anthem directly in the app.

The list, released by Spotify’s global editorial team, highlights songs expected to shape listening trends during the summer season. It also includes a new in-app voting feature that allows users to predict which track will ultimately become the official “Song of the Summer.”

“Raindance,” released in October 2025, has already achieved major commercial success, including topping the UK Singles Chart and gaining hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, marking a career milestone for both artists.

Spotify explained that selections are based on global streaming trends and cultural impact, aiming to identify songs that can cross genres and connect with international audiences during the summer period.

The 2026 list features a wide range of global artists across pop, Afrobeats, rap, country, and electronic music, reflecting Spotify’s view that this year’s summer soundtrack will be shaped by emotional, genre-blending and mood-driven tracks rather than only upbeat party anthems.

Tems’ inclusion continues her steady rise in global recognition, following multiple international awards and collaborations with major artists. Her appearance on the list further reinforces the growing global reach of Afrobeats and Nigerian music on mainstream streaming platforms.

With fan voting now integrated into Spotify’s app, listeners worldwide will play a direct role in deciding which track officially defines the 2026 summer season, turning the campaign into both a chart prediction and an interactive global music contest.
