Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Kizz Daniel has announced that he now owns the master recordings of his debut album, New Era. Released in 2016 under G-Worldwide Entertainment, the album catapulted him into the limelight with hits like “Woju,” “Laye,” “Mama,” and “Good Time”.

Following his departure from G-Worldwide in 2017, Kizz Daniel faced a protracted legal battle over the rights to his stage name and music catalog, particularly the New Era album. The dispute led to his rebranding from “Kiss Daniel” to “Kizz Daniel”.

Despite these challenges, Kizz Daniel’s career flourished. He established his own record label, Flyboy Inc., and continued to release chart-topping singles and albums, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the Afrobeats genre.

He made the announcement recently on social media, stating, “Finally, I now own every single song on ‘New Era’ album alongside Yeba & Sofa (singles) — I got my masters back,” marking a significant victory in his pursuit of artistic freedom and ownership.

This development not only enhances Kizz Daniel’s control over his creative output but also sets a precedent for other artists navigating the complexities of record label contracts and ownership rights. As the music industry continues to evolve, his success story serves as an inspiring example of resilience and the importance of securing one’s artistic legacy.
