US Music Star Oliver Tree Among Six Killed in Mid Air Helicopter Collision in Brazil

US Alt pop musician and internet personality Oliver Tree has died in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in a crash that also claimed five other lives and left investigators searching for answers.

The crash occurred on Sunday morning during what authorities say was a world tour stop. One of the helicopters fell from the sky and crashed into a car park at a dealership, triggering a fire that engulfed around 20 vehicles. Footage broadcast by Brazilian media showed flames and thick smoke rising from the wreckage as emergency crews responded to the scene.

The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro said it was called to the crash site at about 09:00 local time, with investigators now working to determine what caused the collision. Officials have confirmed that a full inquiry is under way.

Argentine content creator Gaspar Prim Diaz, known online as Gaspi, is also believed to have been among those on board, along with other passengers identified as Lucas Brito Chaves, Lucas Vignale, pilot Alexandre Souza, and the pilot of the second aircraft, Charles Marsillac.

Oliver Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell in California, rose to fame in 2016 through viral internet content and later established a global music career with hits including Life Goes On, Miss You, and Alien Boy. He had recently begun a world tour, with performances in Brazil earlier this month and upcoming shows scheduled across Europe, including the UK.

Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment world. British rapper and YouTuber KSI described Tree as a “legend” and said the news felt “unreal,” while comedian Steve-O remembered him as a caring friend who regularly checked in on others.

Tree’s death has shocked fans worldwide, cutting short the career of an artist who had become known for blending music, comedy, and internet culture into a distinctive global persona.
