Tar1q burst onto the Nigerian music scene in 2022 with his debut EP Son of the Moon, showcasing his versatile Afro-Rhythm style, an innovative fusion of Afrobeats, pop, hip-hop, and classic R&B. His genre-blending style, drawing influences from icons like Sade, Wizkid, J. Cole, and Davido, has earned him acclaim for emotional depth and sonic versatility.
In March 2024, Tar1q officially signed with one of Nigeria’s top labels, Chocolate City, following time as an incubator artist under its NuTrybe Records wing. The move elevated his visibility and placed him alongside established acts such as Young Jonn, Blaqbonez, and Candy Bleakz.
“Jigga,” featuring fellow vibrant artist Khaid, dropped in March 2024 and marked a milestone: Tar1q’s debut under Chocolate City. The song blends heartfelt storytelling with touching melodies, exploring themes of love and brotherhood perfectly embodying his “Afro‑Rhythm” aesthetic . While chart performance on Spotify showed moderate traction in Nigeria, its cultural impact was notable.
Concert-goers from Accra to Johannesburg can look forward to an electrifying showcase packed with emotive storytelling, slick performance energy, and a growing repertoire of hits including “Jigga,” Coco Rico, and album tracks from Okada Airlines. Tar1q’s stagecraft promises to be as dynamic and melodic as his studio recordings.
