From Daydreams to Reality: Ashta Eezz Finds Her ‘Mellow’ Sound, and Her Mellow Man

Zimbabwean rising star Ashta Eez joined Julie on Chat Space for Cosoro Radio to talk about her latest single, Mellow, a track that blends dreamy storytelling with smooth, easygoing vibes.

Speaking on the inspiration for the single, she explained that the idea for the song came while daydreaming about meeting a nice guy who is calm, collected, humble, and treats her right. In a twist that feels almost like fate, Ashta revealed that she met her own “mellow guy” shortly after writing the song. Beyond the song, Ashta also shared how hands-on she was with the visuals.

“I just hit up a friend who’s good with videos — Talent — and we planned it out. I went around looking for a studio, dancers, everything. It was a whole DIY spirit, but we made it happen,” she said with pride.

Every artist’s name carries a story, and Ashta’s is no different. Full name Natasha, her stage name was derived from the short Tasha, spelled backwards. She added that Eez came from her surname Zembe, she took three letters from it and turned it into Eez, also because she is an easygoing person.

That mix of creativity, personal history, and personality gave birth to the name Ashta Eez, one that now shines on the global Afrobeats and Afro House radar. Beyond singing, Ashta is also a dancer, and teacher.

Ashta isn’t slowing down anytime soon. She revealed that she has multiple projects lined up, each exploring different sounds and collaborations. Her upcoming song ‘I need to know’, an Afro-house inspired track will be released on 29th August, marking her venture into a new sound. Among is also a collaboration with Shellings, with details under wraps, and a project with Big FSA, alongside a video.
