Afrobeats superstar Davido has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Nigerian music icon Sound Sultan in the music video for his latest single, “10 Kilo.”

Released on August 12, 2025, as part of his fifth studio album, 5IVE, the video blends vibrant visuals with a poignant homage to Sultan’s legacy.

Directed by the acclaimed Director Pink, the “10 Kilo” music video showcases a diverse cast of women, celebrating various body types and cultures. The visuals reinforce the song’s message of body confidence and femininity, themes that resonate deeply within the Afrobeats genre.

In a touching nod to Sound Sultan, the video features scenes with plus-size models dancing in front of a banner bearing Sultan’s image. This tribute mirrors Sultan’s 2011 hit “Orobo,” which also celebrated plus-size women. Sultan’s influence on Nigerian music is undeniable, and this homage underscores the enduring impact of his work.

This isn’t the first time Davido has honored a late Nigerian music legend. Previously, he paid tribute to rapper DaGrin by featuring his song “Skelewu,” showcasing Davido’s deep respect for the history and figures of Nigerian music.

Sound Sultan, born Olanrewaju Fasasi, was a beloved figure in the Nigerian music industry, known for his socially conscious lyrics and ability to fuse various genres, including Afrobeats, hip-hop, and R&B. He passed away in July 2021, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and activism.
