Ghanaian rapper Medikal has stated that he will not take legal action against individuals who troll or insult him on social media, saying he does not intend to “arrest anyone” over online criticism.
The rapper made the comment in a recent interview, where he addressed growing conversations around celebrity responses to online harassment and trolling in Ghana’s entertainment space. He clarified that while he is aware of the insults directed at him on social media, he does not consider them grounds for legal action unless they escalate into physical violence.
His remarks have sparked discussion online, especially given the increasing number of public figures responding strongly to social media criticism. Medikal added that although he sees insulting comments directed at him, his reaction often depends on his mood, suggesting that he sometimes chooses not to engage at all.
The rapper’s comments come amid a broader debate in Ghana’s entertainment industry about the limits of free expression, celebrity privacy, and the growing culture of online trolling. Public figures in the country have frequently spoken about harassment on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, where fan debates and criticism can sometimes turn hostile.
Medikal has previously addressed similar issues, including issuing warnings to social media users in the past over personal matters and online criticism. However, his latest statement signals a more restrained approach, emphasizing tolerance for online opinions as long as they do not cross into physical threats or violence.
The discussion reflects a wider global issue, as celebrities increasingly navigate the challenges of maintaining public presence in the age of social media, where praise and criticism often coexist in highly visible and sometimes aggressive forms.
