Ace Nigerian producer Sarz (Osabuohien Osaretin) is stepping out from behind the mixing board and into the spotlight in an upcoming docu‑series titled Protect Sarz at All Costs: Lay of The Land, which aims to chronicle the life, creative process, and personal journey of one of Afrobeats’ most influential architects.
Sarz hails from Benin City, Nigeria, a city known for its vibrant culture and musical heritage. Over the years, he has built a reputation for being a hitmaker and boundary-pushing producer whose sonic fingerprints appear across many leading Afrobeats tracks.
His work has helped define the modern sound of Afrobeats, collaborating with top-tier artists, experimenting with genre fusions, and innovating production techniques. But despite his widespread influence, much of his personal story, his struggles, motivations, and behind‑the-scenes battles has remained largely untold.
The Five Part docu, Protect Sarz at All Costs: Lay of The Land, promises a multi‑dimensional perspective of both the man and his art. The recently released trailer gives audiences glimpses of his journey, growing up to studio sessions, collaborations & breakthroughs, among other things.
What makes the project particularly compelling is that it ties into his just‑released album, Protect Sarz at All Costs, which features heavyweight names like Wizkid, Asake, and Gunna. The album and the docu are being framed as complementary storytelling vehicles, one via audio, the other via visual narrative.
Many producers stay behind the scenes, letting their work speak for them. By opening up via a docu, Sarz is actively shaping his narrative and how future generations will understand his impact on Afrobeats and beyond. Also, for aspiring producers, musicians, and fans, seeing the work, struggles, failures, and breakthroughs behind hit songs can be deeply instructive and inspiring.
Afrobeats has surged globally, yet many of its protagonists remain opaque to mainstream audiences. Projects like this help shine light on the people who build the sonic architecture behind the hits.
Although the release date and streaming platform have not yet been confirmed, the trailer’s arrival (dropped September 29, 2025) has already stirred excitement across social media circles.
