Former River City Star Iain Robertson Found Guilty of Rape

Former River City actor Iain Robertson has been found guilty of rape and several other offences following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. The 45 year old was convicted of a total of five offences involving multiple women, with incidents dating from 2004 to 2019.

The rape conviction relates to an incident that occurred between 2018 and 2019. During the trial, the victim told the court that Robertson had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. Robertson denied the allegations, insisting he understood issues of consent and had committed no wrongdoing.

Jurors however, found him guilty of rape along with four additional offences. The actor known for his roles in the BBC Scotland soap River City and other television productions was remanded in custody following the verdict.

Robertson is scheduled to be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on July 23. The conviction marks a major development in a case that has drawn significant attention across Scotland’s entertainment industry.
