Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have officially turned their long-running love story into a marriage, tying the knot in an intimate civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, 2026. After nearly a decade together, the football superstar and model chose a private celebration away from the huge crowds and global attention that normally surround Ronaldo.

The couple’s marriage comes one year after Rodríguez publicly announced their engagement in August 2025. She revealed the news with a photograph of her engagement ring, confirming that their relationship had entered a new chapter after years of building a family together.

Ronaldo, 41, and Rodríguez, 32, have been together since 2016, after meeting in Madrid when Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store. Their relationship quickly developed into one of the world’s most closely followed celebrity partnerships, combining Ronaldo’s extraordinary football career with Rodríguez’s growing profile as a model, entrepreneur and television personality.

Their decision to keep the wedding private is particularly striking given the enormous global interest in their relationship. In the weeks leading up to the ceremony, speculation about the wedding location and date spread widely, with reports even drawing large crowds to Madeira after rumours suggested Ronaldo would marry there.

The actual ceremony, however, took place in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon. Reports describe it as an intimate civil wedding attended by the couple’s children rather than a huge celebrity gathering.

Family has remained at the centre of Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s relationship. The couple share children together, while Rodríguez has also played an important role in the wider Ronaldo family. Ronaldo is father to Cristiano Jr. and twins Eva Maria and Mateo, while the couple have two daughters together. Their family also endured a devastating loss in 2022 when their newborn son, Ángel, died shortly after birth.

For Ronaldo, the marriage represents another major personal milestone following a career that has made him one of the most recognisable athletes in the world. The Portuguese star has spent more than two decades at the highest level of professional football, winning major domestic and European honours with Manchester United and Real Madrid and becoming one of the sport’s most prolific goalscorers.

Rodríguez has meanwhile built a public career of her own. Her Netflix series I Am Georgina offered audiences an inside look at her life, family and relationship with Ronaldo, further establishing her as a global personality beyond her association with the footballer.
