Andoni Iraola has announced that he will leave AFC Bournemouth at the end of the current season, bringing an end to his successful spell in charge of the Premier League side.
The Spanish coach confirmed that he will step down when his contract expires in the summer of 2026, informing the club after a period of reflection and discussions with the board. His decision marks the conclusion of a three-year tenure that has significantly reshaped Bournemouth’s identity and competitiveness in England’s top flight.
Iraola arrived at Bournemouth in 2023 and quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most highly regarded modern coaches. Known for his intense, high-pressing style and tactical discipline, he guided the club to consistent improvement, including their highest-ever Premier League points total and a top-half finish that signaled a major step forward for the team.
During his time at the club, Bournemouth also produced several memorable results against elite opposition, strengthening Iraola’s reputation as a coach capable of competing with the league’s biggest names despite operating with a smaller squad and limited resources.
In his statement, Iraola expressed gratitude to the players, staff, and supporters, describing his time at the club as a rewarding chapter in his career. The club also acknowledged his contribution, praising his leadership, tactical innovation, and role in developing both young and established players.
His departure now opens the door for speculation over his next move, with reports linking him to several Premier League clubs as well as a possible return to Spain, where he previously enjoyed a strong reputation as both a player and coach.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, are expected to begin the search for a new manager immediately, as they look to maintain the progress achieved under Iraola and build on the foundations he has left behind.
As the season winds down, attention will now shift to his final matches in charge, with supporters preparing to say farewell to a manager widely credited with transforming the club’s fortunes in a short space of time.
