US President Donald Trump has unveiled a new limited edition commemorative US passport featuring his portrait and signature as part of events marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The special passport, named the “Patriot Passport,” is intended to celebrate the country’s founding while showcasing a redesigned patriotic theme.

The commemorative passport includes Trump’s image on the inside cover alongside excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, while another page features artwork depicting the signing of the historic document in 1776. Announcing the launch on his Truth Social platform, Trump described it as a symbol of national pride and welcomed visitors with the message, “Welcome, but be good!”

The US State Department said the commemorative passport is a collector’s edition and will be available for a limited period through the Washington Passport Agency beginning July 6. Officials stressed that it does not replace the standard US passport, which remains the country’s official travel document and will continue to be issued through the normal application process.

The unveiling has generated intense political debate. Supporters say the passport is a fitting tribute to America’s 250th anniversary and reflects a renewed emphasis on patriotism. Critics however, argue that featuring the sitting president’s portrait and signature on a government-issued commemorative document blurs the line between state symbolism and personal political branding.

The launch comes as preparations continue for nationwide celebrations marking America 250, a year  long programme of events commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The anniversary is expected to feature parades, exhibitions, cultural events and historical commemorations across the United States.
