Nigerian rapper Ice Prince called out fellow hip hop artists Naeto C and YCee for turning down his request to appear on songs from his latest album, Testimony of Grace.

Speaking during an interview on Cosoro Afrobeats Radio, Ice Prince opened up about the difficult process behind putting together some of the collaborations on the project, particularly the track “Head Come Up.”

According to the rapper, the song initially had a different vision, with plans for multiple hip hop collaborations before several artists declined to participate.

“I wanted Naeto C, YCee, and Reminisce on the record at different points, but things didn’t work out,” he explained.

Ice Prince admitted he was disappointed after veteran rapper Naeto C reportedly turned down the song, describing him as one of his favourite rappers despite the rejection. He also revealed that YCee was unable to complete the collaboration before the deadline for the album ran out.

Still, the rapper maintained there was no bad blood between them.

“I still love them. Those are still my guys,” he said during the interview. “I hold no grudge against them.”

Eventually, the track came together with appearances from Sinzu and Ghanaian rapper Medikal, whom Ice Prince praised for delivering one of his favourite verses on the project.

The rapper explained that despite the setbacks, the experience became part of the story behind the making of Testimony of Grace, an album he describes as a reflection of gratitude, survival and growth throughout his career.
