Dapper Live Entertainment has etched its name into the Guinness World Records after successfully staging the largest orchestra ever assembled for an Afrobeats concert, marking a historic moment for African music and live entertainment.
The milestone was achieved during “Trench Symphony: The Dapper Live Experience,” a groundbreaking concert held on December 16, 2025, at the Balmoral Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The ambitious event brought together more than 80 orchestral musicians performing alongside several Afrobeats artists, creating a bold fusion of classical orchestration and contemporary African sound. The performance has now been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest orchestra ever assembled for an Afrobeats concert.
The vision behind the project came from Dapper Live’s founder and CEO, Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi, who set out to create a performance that would elevate Afrobeats into a grand, symphonic experience. Rather than presenting the genre in its usual format of DJs and live bands, “Trench Symphony” reimagined Afrobeats through a full orchestral arrangement, blending violins, brass, and classical instrumentation with the rhythmic energy that defines the genre.
The concert featured performances from a number of Afrobeats artists including T.I Blaze, TML Vibez, Bhadboi OML, Rybeena, Lasmid, Cazulee, Kashcoming, and DWillsHarmony. The event also included special appearances from Fuji legends King Dr. Saheed Osupa and KS1 Malaika, adding a powerful cultural dimension that connected different generations of Nigerian music.
Behind the scenes, a large creative team worked to bring the ambitious production to life. The orchestral arrangements were directed by music director Bazzman Sam, while conductors Fatola and Clintonic led the ensemble during the performance. Sound direction was overseen by acclaimed music producer Temitayo “Tee Y Mix” Ibitoye, ensuring that the orchestral elements blended seamlessly with the Afrobeats performances. Event direction was handled by Dunni Akinwunmi, with Mojoyinof of Owambe Events serving as the show producer.
Beyond the record itself, the achievement highlights the continued evolution of Afrobeats as a global cultural force. Over the past decade, the genre has grown from a regional African sound into one of the most influential movements in global music, with artists topping international charts and performing on some of the world’s biggest stages. By incorporating orchestral arrangements into Afrobeats, Dapper Live has opened the door to new creative possibilities and demonstrated how African music can continue to innovate on a global scale.
Following the Guinness World Records recognition, Dapper Live has announced plans to expand the Trench Symphony experience beyond Lagos. The production is expected to tour multiple Nigerian states in 2026 before heading to international cities including London, Birmingham, Dublin, Paris, and several locations across Canada.
For Dapper Live Entertainment, the record-breaking concert represents more than just a global accolade, it is a bold statement about the future of African music. By merging orchestral sophistication with the vibrant pulse of Afrobeats, the production has created a new benchmark for live music experiences while showcasing the creativity and ambition driving Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
