Wizkid’s ‘Joro’ Goes Platinum in France

Wizkid’s 2019 hit Joro has officially been certified Platinum in France, proving that the song still has serious replay value years after its release. The certification was awarded by Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique (SNEP), recognizing the track’s impressive streaming numbers in one of Europe’s biggest music markets.

The record has now surpassed 30 million streams in the country, the threshold required for Platinum status under the current SNEP guidelines.

Produced by Northboi, “Joro” dropped at a time when Afrobeats was steadily expanding beyond Africa, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Smooth, rhythmic, and instantly catchy, the song helped reinforce Wizkid’s status as one of the genre’s biggest global exports.

The single has also earned certifications in other major markets. It was certified Gold in Canada in 2022,  after a 40,000 units in sales. Also, In the United States, the track surpassed  500,000 units sales and became eligible for Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

This latest certification becomes Wizkid’s fifth SNEP plaque.
