When two of Afrobeats’ most influential figures team up, the result is bound to be monumental, and Real, Vol. 1 has lived up to every ounce of that hype. Released on January 23, 2026, the four-track extended play marks the first official joint project from Wizkid and Asake, blending their distinct styles into a powerful musical statement that has resonated instantly with fans across Nigeria and beyond.

The EP opened at number one on the Apple Music Nigeria Top Albums chart, claiming the top spot faster than any midnight drop in the platform’s history,  hitting that position within just five hours of release. This rapid ascent underscores the duo’s enduring popularity and the intense anticipation that built up during the project’s rollout.

Real, Vol. 1 comprises four tracks that showcase both artists’ strengths and chemistry: “Turbulence,” “Jogodo,” “Iskolodo,” and “Alaye.” Produced by a mix of top Nigerian beat-makers including Magicsticks, l.o.l., and 4Tunes, the project leans into Afro-fusion rhythms with a refined touch, balancing Wizkid’s smooth, globally seasoned delivery with Asake’s raw, street-infused energy.

Leading the charge is the hit single “Jogodo,” which had already rewritten local streaming records before the EP’s release. The track pulled in over 1.38 million streams on Spotify Nigeria in its first 24 hours, a remarkable achievement that set new benchmarks for collaborative releases, and has since crossed the 10 million streams mark globally within its first week, making it the fastest African song to reach that milestone on the platform. “Jogodo” also helped the EP garner attention on international charts, debuting on the Spotify Global Top 100 and charting in multiple countries.

The duo’s collaboration isn’t just a collection of songs; it represents a cultural moment. Fans have long anticipated a full body of work from Wizkid and Asake after several successful single collaborations, including the Grammy-nominated “MMS.” Real, Vol. 1 not only delivers that but exceeds expectations by marrying two generational talents in a project that feels both urgent and timeless.
