Nigeria-born, Ghana-raised Mr Eazi has unveiled his latest project, a seven-track EP titled Maison Rouge. Released on October 29, 2025 via his own imprint emPawa Africa, Maison Rouge is described as “an intimate homecoming to his Banku Music roots”, blending nostalgia with refined modernity.
Mr Eazi has been a key figure in the Afrobeats and Banku Music movements. Banku Music, a term he coined, speaks to a fusion of Ghanaian highlife groove and Nigerian chord sensibilities, peppered with pidgin and accessible storytelling.
His earlier breakout tracks such as “Skin Tight,” “Leg Over,” and “Bankulize”, helped cement his sound and the concept of “Banku” as a genre-descriptor. After several mixtapes and albums, he now revisits the foundational blueprint of his artistry with Maison Rouge.
The title Maison Rouge refers to a house in Cotonou, Benin specifically the hotel-house where Mr Eazi lived and worked while crafting this project. In that sense, the EP is both a physical and metaphorical house: a place of residence, creation and memory. According to coverage, the project “restores the intimate and soulful glow” of his early signature sound while still allowing for contemporary soundscapes and narrative growth.
The release of Maison Rouge follows a slight delay: originally set for September 25, the EP was pushed to October 29, giving room for anticipation and perhaps further refinement. Reviewers note that Maison Rouge is less about high-octane club bangers and more about groove, warmth and subtle emotional complexity. The project is described as “stripped back, intimate … the golden era of his early classics” with production that gives Mr Eazi’s vocals space to breathe.
